Man's best friend

Below is another amazing story about the friendship between a man and a dog.  My thanks to my former boss who forwarded this.  Thanks, KCT!

A Father, a Daughter and a Dog
- story by Catherine Moore

"Watch out! You nearly broad sided that car!" My father yelled at me. "Can't you do anything right?"

Those words hurt worse than blows. I turned my head toward the elderly man in the seat beside me, daring me to challenge him. A lump rose in my throat as I averted my eyes. I wasn't prepared for another battle.

"I saw the car, Dad . Please don't yell at me when I'm driving..."  My voice was measured and steady, sounding far calmer than I really felt.

Dad glared at me, then turned away and settled back. At home I left Dad in front of the television and went outside to collect my thoughts.... dark, heavy clouds hung in the air with a promise of rain. The rumble of distant thunder seemed to echo my inner turmoil. What could I do about him?

Dad had been a lumberjack in Washington and Oregon . He had enjoyed being outdoors and had reveled in pitting his strength against the forces of nature. He had entered grueling lumberjack competitions, and had placed often. The shelves in his house were filled with trophies that attested to his prowess.

The years marched on relentlessly. The first time he couldn't lift a heavy log, he joked about it; but later that same day I saw him outside alone, straining to lift it. He became irritable whenever anyone teased him about his advancing age, or when he couldn't do something he had done as a younger man.

Four days after his sixty-seventh birthday, he had a heart attack. An ambulance sped him to the hospital while a paramedic administered CPR to keep blood and oxygen flowing.

At the hospital, Dad was rushed into an operating room. He was lucky; he survived. But something inside Dad died. His zest for life was gone. He obstinately refused to follow doctor's orders. Suggestions and offers of help were turned aside with sarcasm and insults. The number of visitors thinned, then finally stopped altogether. Dad was left alone..

My husband, Dick, and I asked Dad to come live with us on our small farm. We hoped the fresh air and rustic atmosphere would help him adjust.

Within a week after he moved in, I regretted the invitation. It seemed nothing was satisfactory. He criticized everything I did. I became frustrated and moody. Soon I was taking my pent-up anger out on Dick. We began to bicker and argue.

Alarmed, Dick sought out our pastor and explained the situation. The clergyman set up weekly counseling appointments for us. At the close of each session he prayed, asking God to soothe Dad 's troubled mind.

But the months wore on and God was silent. Something had to be done and it was up to me to do it.

The next day I sat down with the phone book and methodically called each of the mental health clinics listed in the Yellow Pages. I explained my problem to each of the sympathetic voices that answered in vain.

Just when I was giving up hope, one of the voices suddenly exclaimed, "I just read something that might help you! Let me go get the article.."

I listened as she read. The article described a remarkable study done at a nursing home. All of the patients were under treatment for chronic depression. Yet their attitudes had improved dramatically when they were given responsibility for a dog.

I drove to the animal shelter that afternoon.. After I filled out a questionnaire, a uniformed officer led me to the kennels. The odor of disinfectant stung my nostrils as I moved down the row of pens. Each contained five to seven dogs. Long-haired dogs, curly-haired dogs, black dogs, spotted dogs all jumped up, trying to reach me. I studied each one but rejected one after the other for various reasons too big, too small, too much hair. As I neared the last pen a dog in the shadows of the far corner struggled to his feet, walked to the front of the run and sat down. It was a pointer, one of the dog world's aristocrats. But this was a caricature of the breed.

Years had etched his face and muzzle with shades of gray. His hip bones jutted out in lopsided triangles. But it was his eyes that caught and held my attention. Calm and clear, they beheld me unwaveringly.

I pointed to the dog. "Can you tell me about him?" The officer looked, then shook his head in puzzlement. "He's a funny one. Appeared out of nowhere and sat in front of the gate. We brought him in, figuring someone would be right down to claim him. That was two weeks ago and we've heard nothing. His time is up tomorrow." He gestured helplessly.

As the words sank in I turned to the man in horror.. "You mean you're going to kill him?"

"Ma'am," he said gently, "that's our policy. We don't have room for every unclaimed dog."

I looked at the pointer again. The calm brown eyes awaited my decision. "I'll take him," I said. I drove home with the dog on the front seat beside me.. When I reached the house I honked the horn twice. I was helping my prize out of the car when Dad shuffled onto the front porch... "Ta-da! Look what I got for you, Dad !" I said excitedly.

Dad looked, then wrinkled his face in disgust. "If I had wanted a dog I would have gotten one. And I would have picked out a better specimen than that bag of bones. Keep it! I don't want it" Dad waved his arm scornfully and turned back toward the house.

Anger rose inside me. It squeezed together my throat muscles and pounded into my temples. "You'd better get used to him, Dad . He's staying!"

Dad ignored me.. "Did you hear me, Dad ?" I screamed. At those words Dad whirled angrily, his hands clenched at his sides, his eyes narrowed and blazing with hate. We stood glaring at each other like duelists, when suddenly the pointer pulled free from my grasp. He wobbled toward my dad and sat down in front of him. Then slowly, carefully, he raised his paw..

Dad 's lower jaw trembled as he stared at the uplifted paw Confusion replaced the anger in his eyes. The pointer waited patiently. Then Dad was on his knees, hugging the animal.

It was the beginning of a warm and intimate friendship. Dad named the pointer Cheyenne . Together, he and Cheyenne explored the community. They spent long hours walking down dusty lanes. They spent reflective moments on the banks of streams, angling for tasty trout. They even started to attend Sunday services together, Dad sitting in a pew and Cheyenne lying quietly at is feet.

Dad and Cheyenne were inseparable throughout the next three years.. Dad 's bitterness faded, and he and Cheyenne made many friends. Then late one night, I was startled to feel Cheyenne's cold nose burrowing through our bed covers. He had never before come into our bedroom at night.. I woke Dick, put on my robe and ran into my father's room. Dad lay in his bed, his face serene. But his spirit had left quietly sometime during the night.

Two days later, my shock and grief deepened when I discovered Cheyenne lying dead beside Dad's bed. I wrapped his still form in the rag rug he had slept on. As Dick and I buried him near a favorite fishing hole, I silently thanked the dog for the help he had given me in restoring Dad 's peace of mind.

The morning of Dad 's funeral dawned overcast and dreary. This day looks like the way I feel, I thought, as I walked down the aisle to the pews reserved for family. I was surprised to see the many friends Dad and Cheyenne had made, filling the church. The pastor began his eulogy. It was a tribute to both Dad and the dog who had changed his life.

And then the pastor turned to Hebrews 13:2. "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this, some have entertained angels without knowing it."

"I've often thanked God for sending that angel," he said.

For me, the past dropped into place, completing a puzzle that I had not seen before: the sympathetic voice that had just read the right article... Cheyenne 's unexpected appearance at the animal shelter.....his calm acceptance and complete devotion to my father.  and the proximity of their deaths. And suddenly I understood. I knew that God had answered my prayers after all.

Life is too short for drama or petty things, so laugh hard, love truly and forgive quickly. Live While You Are Alive. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second time.

And if you don't send this to at least 4 people ---nobody cares? But do share this with someone. Lost time can never be found.

A blonde goes to heaven

From my dear octogenarian friend from Australia comes this funny tale.  Thanks, Ken!
A Blonde goes to Heaven

A Blonde was sent on her way to Heaven. Upon arrival, a concerned St Peter met her at the Pearly Gates.  'I'm sorry,' St Peter said; 'But Heaven is suffering from an overload of godly souls and we have been forced to put up an Entrance Exam for new arrivals to ease the burden of Heavenly Arrivals.'

'That's cool' said the Blonde, 'What does the Entrance Exam consist of?'

'Just three questions' said St Peter.

'Which are?' asked the Blonde.

'The first,' said St Peter, 'is, which two days of the week start with the letter 'T' '?
The second is 'How many seconds are there in a year?'
The third is 'What was the name of the swagman in Waltzing Matilda?'

'Now,' said St Peter, 'Go away and think about those questions and when I call upon you, I shall expect you to have those answers for me.'

So the Blonde went away and gave those three questions some considerable thought (I expect you to do the same).

The following morning, St Peter called upon the Blonde and asked if she had considered the questions, to which she replied, 'I have.'

'Well then,' said St Peter, 'Which two days of the week start with the letter T?'

The Blonde said, 'Today and Tomorrow.'

St Peter pondered this answer for some time, and decided that indeed the answer can be applied to the question.

'Well then, could I have your answer to the second of the three questions?' St Peter went on, 'how many seconds in a year?'

The Blonde replied, 'Twelve!'

'Only twelve?' exclaimed St Peter, 'How did you arrive at that figure?'

'Easy,' said the Blonde, 'there's the second of January, the second of February, right through to the second of December, giving a total of twelve seconds.'

St Peter looked at the Blonde and said, 'I need some time to consider your answer before I can give you a decision.' And he walked away shaking his head.

A short time later, St Peter returned to the Blonde. 'I'll allow the answer to stand, but you need to get the third and final question absolutely correct to be allowed into Heaven. Now, can you tell me the answer to the name of the swagman in Waltzing Matilda?'

The blonde replied: 'Of the three questions, I found this the easiest to answer.'

'Really!' exclaimed St Peter, 'And what is the answer?'

'It's Andy.'

'Andy??'

'Yes, Andy,' said the Blonde.

This totally floored St Peter, and he paced this way and that, deliberating the answer. Finally, he could not stand the suspense any longer, and turning to the blonde, asked 'How in God's name did you arrive at THAT answer?'

'Easy' said the Blonde, 'Andy sat, Andy watched, Andy waited til his billy boiled.'

And the Blonde entered Heaven...

... you're  singing it now, aren't you...??

Construction tunnel vision

The city I live in is in perpetual construction mode.  The traffic situation gets inconvenient sometimes, but the citizens’ consolation is knowing where our tax dollars are being spent.

On fair weekends when I head out to the mountains, I notice the colorful enhancements done along our interstate highways.  Brick wall fences have gone up to shield the residential communities from the nonstop stream of vehicles that speed by, giving them privacy from the commuting public.  The bricks’ designs have made the long drives very interesting because their aesthetic appeal can do wonders for tired driving eyes.

Most of the construction workers who brought us such outdoor delight came from alien countries, many of whom don’t even speak English.  But judging from the influx of alien women and children who have come here recently, those construction workers must have found jobs after their work on the freeway sites were completed.  The language barrier has not stopped them from making America their new home.

On the rare occasions that I witnessed a roadside construction in progress, I’m sure that the outdoor work involved was no picnic.  The dust constantly blowing on the workers' faces might have been a major inconvenience, but might have also become second nature to the job.  The hot sun on their bodies might be skin cancer waiting to happen if they worked unprotected, but the possibility didn't seem to bother them.  The meals they had during the work day would have been better if they didn’t have to eat on the construction site.  And their bathroom break?  I don’t need to be graphic.  The portable potties on the sites tell the whole sordid story.

Construction work is a real pain.  Thankfully, workers get decent pay for their efforts.

Although today’s job market has not been kind, there appears to be so much potential resulting from the work done in the construction industry.  There exists, thank goodness, many opportunities for jobs like housekeeping, warehouse work, retail shopping centers and other fields.

These days every time I see construction work in progress, I can’t help but feel hopeful.  Once the structures are completed, there will be an availability of job offerings for certain. The long unemployed folks will be back on their feet.  The economy that’s been struggling for too long, will have nowhere else to go but up.

Perhaps it’s wishful thinking, but I would hate to even imagine that, heaven forbid, the throbbing construction efforts would simply go to waste.  My glass half-full mentality would rather err on the side of optimistic foresight than pessimistic shortsightedness.

A chart to share with everyone

A very long while ago, I received this informative piece about food types and what they do to our body.  This information should be useful for everyone looking to nutrition for physical health and strength.

Two Coffees in Heaven!

This piece was forwarded by my former boss, an Australian.  It makes fun of our dear American President, but the tale should be taken in the spirit of jest it was written.

Thanks, KCT!

Having arrived at the Gates of Heaven, Barack Obama meets a man with a beard. 'Are you Mohammed?' he asks. 'No my son, I am St. Peter; Mohammed is higher up.' Peter then points to a ladder that rises into the clouds.

Delighted that Mohammed should be higher than St. Peter, Obama climbs the ladder in great strides, climbs up through the clouds and comes into a room where he meets another bearded man. He asks again, 'Are you Mohammed?' 'Why no,' he answers, "I am Moses; Mohammed is higher still.'

Exhausted, but with a heart full of joy he climbs the ladder yet again, he discovers a larger room where he meets an angelic looking man with a beard. Full of hope, he asks again, 'Are you Mohammed?' 'No, I am Jesus, the Christ; you will find Mohammed higher up.'

Mohammed higher than Jesus! Man, oh man! Obama can hardly contain his delight and climbs and climbs ever higher. Once again, he reaches an even larger room where he meets this truly magnificent looking man with a silver white beard and once again repeats his question: 'Are you Mohammed?' he gasps as he is by now, totally out of breath from all his climbing. 'No, my son, I am Almighty God, the Alpha and the Omega, but you look exhausted. Would you like a cup of coffee?'

Obama says, "yes please!' As God looks behind him, he claps his hands and yells out: 'Hey, Mohammed, two coffees!'

Keep your trust in God; your president is an idiot.

The senior Mrs. Robinson

If you think that the Golden Girls have lost their marble for seduction… think again!  Flirting is a skill that grows sharper with age.  From my BFF Josie came this naughty tale…

Senior seduction

A farmer stopped by the local mechanic's shop to have his truck fixed.  They couldn't do it while he waited, so he said he didn't live far and would just walk home.

On the way home he stopped at the hardware store and bought a bucket and a gallon of paint.  He then stopped by the feed store and picked up a couple of chickens and a goose.  However, struggling outside the store he now had a problem - how to carry his entire purchases home..

While he was scratching his head he was approached by a little old lady who told him she was lost.  She asked, 'Can you tell me how to get to 1603 Mockingbird Lane ?' The farmer said, 'Well, as a matter of fact, my farm is very close to that house I would walk you there but I can't carry this lot.' The old lady suggested, 'Why don't you put the can of paint in the bucket. Carry the bucket in one hand, put a chicken under each arm and carry the goose in your other hand?'

'Why thank you very much,' he said and proceeded to walk the old girl home.

On the way he says 'Let's take my short cut and go down this alley.  We'll be there in no time.' The little old lady looked him over cautiously then said, 'I am a lonely widow without a husband to defend me.  How do I know that when we get in the alley you won't hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt, and have your way with me?'

The farmer said, 'Holy smokes lady!  I'm carrying a bucket, a gallon of paint, two chickens, and a goose.  How in the world could I possibly hold you up against the wall and do that?' The old lady replied, 'Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the paint on top of the bucket, and I'll hold the chickens.

Nuke shelters in mankind's future

Today I have the pleasure of sharing this information from Lina, my friend of over four decades.
TO GOD BE GLORY.
HONOR GOD. MAKE DISCIPLES.
Lina

This message was sent to me by my brother who's in Canada. These events are part of Revelations and we really have to prepare ourselves spiritually and not religiously.  God wants our hearts. He wants us to totally surrender to HIS will so that He can do what has to be done for us.  Ptr. Benny Hinn has always exhorted his listeneres to personalize Ps. 91 (Security Under God's Protection) and Ps. 94 (Deliverance From Evil). This is what I pray everyday on my way to work.  The events are unfolding before our very eyes, we cannot take things for granted. We never know the exact time or day when things will happen, and it can be shorter than the winking of an eye.

Unless a man be born again of the spirit and the water, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God. The Bible clearly states that we must be born again. The Lord also says, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, No one comes to the Father except through Me."  I urge you to spend more time with reading and meditating on the Word because everything that is written in the Bible are promises and prophecies that God will fulfill, including future events (wars, rumors of wars, famine, natural disasters...) that will unfold before the end times.

It's not about religion, it's about our relationship with the Lord. When the time comes that we will plead for God's mercy, his response would be "I do not know you because you do not know Me." The only way we can get to know God is through feeding on the Word or Scripture and through preachings. I always make it a point to listen to DZAS 702 am station when I get home at 6:30pm. The messages are so powerful. I listen to Ptrs. Clem Guillermo and Ed Lapiz and also from internet "Daily Hope devotionals from Rick Warren's Purpose Driven Life." We all want our families to be with the Lord when the time comes.  I've always included in my tithes, prayers for the deliverance and salvation of my family, friends, relatives and co-workers. These prayers are being prayed for by our Intercessors and Prayer Warriors, but we also never cease to pray.

I hope you can share with friends and relatives about God's goodness and mercy. He loves us, this is the reason He sent His one and only Son to save us by dying on the cross for our sins. Amen.

Wow, I feel like a preacher. The Holy Spirit has just flowed in my thoughts. Praise God.

PLEASE NOTE: I have held this message for several days until I checked with Christina Gallagher's webmaster. She says it is legit and there are lots of messages that are not put on the web site. Joyce

Message to Christina Gallagher July 2010 to build nuke shelters in America

July 29, 2010

A message from Jesus to Christina

My daughter, I desire that you make known to My people in the Americas that I, Jesus, desire they participate in bringing about a number of underground shelters for the safety of those who are to be the remnant of salvation.  Soon, very soon, the world will be plunged into the black apostasy that will engulf the world.  There will be war and through the availability and use of nuclear power, the annihilation of many parts of the world and its inhabitants will be brought about.  God does not to desire you to fear.  He desires your response and your swift action to bring about this work.

My daughter, I desire you make this known throughout the world.  The world's powers are in the grasp of a great unrest and the preparation of war is now a reality in union with antichrist.  He is about to create a great abomination.  The world as you know it will become changed and disfigured.  World powers are at work, drawing upon the forces of evil to cause destructionAll transactions through banks and all government services throughout the world will be made powerless.  The leaders of all nations will be rendered helpless to intervene.  Food will be limited.  Hunger and death will be everywhere.  Great calamities and disasters will befall the world. The waters will be poisoned.

Make preparation now.  The world is about to fall into the depths of its own sin.  All that you have will be seized.  Your money will be worthless.  There will be death all around you.  God's mercy will be there if people turn to Me but it grieves Me that their hearts will not choose to partake in My Mercy.  Rather they will prefer to squirm in conforming to man's way.  I am He who is Alpha and Omega for ever and ever.  How I still yearn for people to respond to Me rather than die.  My Sacred Heart will draw all those who desire to respond for the purpose of ensuring the continuance of the work of salvation.  The time is here when all men will be tempted to think only of self.  The sea will cover much land and many people will be lost because they choose to remain blind to the call  and their denial of Truth.  My daughter, you will receive much mockery from those who do not want to respond.  Soon they will cry out and seek you out to help them but it will be too late for many.  The waters of death have moved and moved quickly.  Time has been set for the world's destruction.  Its perversion is limitless.  My daughter, be at peace.  Make known all I tell you.  Those who can recognize Truth will respond.  I desire you to guide My people through My working in you.  You are in the time of the 'opening of the door and the closing of the gate' - the great tribulation.

Money in the bank will not be safe. Just look around. Financial collapse in Greece, Italy, USA & other places. The waters of death, is the past events in the US & elsewhere, having to deal with flooding and "so-called" Natural Disasters areas that never experienced flooding suffered and NO ONE could do any thing to STOP IT!

Place your TRUST in Jesus .

Back to the job hunt

Thursday (August 11th) last week saw my complacent work world come crashing down.  My Vice President met with me in closed-door fashion and delivered the news that every member of the workforce would never want to hear.  Your position is being eliminated as a result of corporate downsizing.

Being the four-decade seasoned professional that I am, I accepted the news with calm and grace.  But at the back of my head I visualized pulling his hair, slapping him senseless and causing him bodily harm.  After mentally assaulting him, I thanked him graciously for the advance notice.  You see, my last day will be the end of August and I was graciously given almost three weeks to tie up the loose ends.  Call it earning every dollar of my severance pay.

I thought that was really nice of management to let me stay and clean up my work mess.  Unlike the other company where I got laid off nine years ago, I was out of the building by noon after I had packed my stuff in two boxes.  How does one pack 15 years of corporate life in two boxes?  Although I didn't have the magic formula somehow I managed.

All day Friday last week I started the work on tossing paper files and electronic garbage.   I got so attached to everything over the years that getting files out of drawers and cabinets proved to be a painful process.  Every now and then, I would stop and read some long ago memo that I had written and wondered where the impressive and sometimes entertaining verbiage came from.  The Holy Spirit, I reminded myself.

The annoying thing was that since I was still doing the work I was paid for, I had to stop many times from my nostalgia to take care of business.  No wonder I was given three weeks to clean up!  I must make a mental note to bid my work station walls goodbye... touch every smooth surface, give them a hug if I could and thank them for seven years of wonderful corporate memories.  What I'll miss dearly is the window behind me overlooking the coffee shop below.  It has brought me glorious sunshine from outdoors specially on days I needed a boost.  The coffee shop across the street was
where a U.S. President once schmoozed with the local citizens.  Before that day, the SWAT team came checking out our premises.  Yes, my workplace has given me opportunities to brush with celebrities.  In fact, a couple of doors away from my work station sits a guy who competed in the recent PGA Tour.  His face ended up on the news too.

I won't deny it... that unusually structured building overlooking the train station and the mountains will be surely sorely missed.  I've always bragged to friends that I worked in a charming little universe.  My wish is that my next employer will be located in similar surroundings... lovely landscaping, interesting art sculptures, a circular walkway that wraps around a huge round fountain gushing refreshing water.  Many times  as I paced that area I imagined myself walking on some Italian piazza.  The lovely exhilarating walk in the mornings is one of the best things I'll miss the most.

But should I end up reporting to the restless, unbridled, often suffocating Downtown environment where I had worked for many years almost a decade ago, I won’t complain.  After all, in these days of economic hardship, a paycheck means more than a rare enchanting workplace.

God comes in unexpected moments

My cyber mailbox is never wanting in surprises.  When I'm feeling down, a joke comes to cheer me up and save the moment.  If I'm in the mood to look at God's creations, someone from across the ocean would send an inspirational piece complete with breathtaking pictures.  When life comes armed with challenging tidings, I get reminded that the Good Lord's Hand is on the wheel.

This charmingly beautiful story came from my old friend, Lina, who deserves much thanks for passing it on.

A Good Reminder Of God's Love.
Every Sunday afternoon, after the morning service at the church, the Pastor and his eleven year old son would go out into their town and hand out Gospel Tracts.

This particular Sunday afternoon, as it came time for the Pastor and his son to go to the streets with their tracts, it was very cold outside, as well as pouring down rain. The boy bundled up in his warmest and driest clothes and said, "OK, dad, I'm ready."

His Pastor dad asked, "Ready for what?""Dad, it's time we gather our tracts together and go out." Dad responds, "Son, it's very cold outside and it's pouring down rain." The boy gives his dad a surprised look, asking,
"But Dad, aren't people still going to Hell, even though it's raining?"

Dad answers, "Son, I am not going out in this weather." Despondently, the boy asks, "Dad, can I go? Please?" His father hesitated for a moment then said, "Son, you can go. Here are the tracts, be careful son." "Thanks Dad!"

And with that, he was off and out into the rain. This eleven year old boy walked the streets of the town going door to door and handing everybody he met in the street a Gospel Tract.

After two hours of walking in the rain, he was soaking, bone-chilled wet and down to his VERY LAST TRACT. He stopped on a corner and looked for someone to hand a tract to, but the streets were totally deserted.

Then he turned toward the first home he saw and started up the sidewalk to the front door and rang the door bell. He rang the bell, but nobody answered. He rang it again and again, but still no one answered. He waited but still no answer.

Finally, this eleven year old trooper turned to leave, but something stopped him. Again, he turned to the door and rang the bell and knocked loudly on the door with his fist.  He waited, something holding him there on the front porch!  He rang again and this time the door slowly opened.  Standing in the doorway was a very sad-looking elderly lady.  She softly asked, "What can I do for you, son?"  With radiant eyes and a smile that lit up her world, this little boy said,
"Ma'am, I'm sorry if I disturbed you, but I just want to tell you that *JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU* and I came to give you my very last Gospel Tract which will tell you all about JESUS and His great LOVE." With that, he handed her his last tract and turned to leave.  She called to him as he departed.  "Thank you, son! And God Bless You!"

Well, the following Sunday morning in church Pastor Dad was in the pulpit. As the service began, he asked, "Does anybody have any testimony or want to say anything?"

Slowly, in the back row of the church, an elderly lady stood to her feet.  As she began to speak, a look of glorious radiance came from her face, "No one in this church knows me. I've never been here before. You see, before last Sunday I was not a Christian. My husband passed on some time ago, leaving me totally alone in this world. Last Sunday, being a particularly cold and rainy day, it was even more so in my heart that I came to the end of the line where I no longer had any hope or will to live. So I took a rope and a chair and ascended the stairway into the attic of my home. I fastened the rope securely to a rafter in the roof, then stood on the chair and fastened the other end of the rope around my neck. Standing on that chair, so lonely and brokenhearted I was about to leap off, when suddenly the loud ringing of my doorbell downstairs startled me. I thought, "I'll wait a minute, and whoever it is will go away." I waited and waited, but the ringing doorbell seemed to get louder and more insistent, and then the person ringing also started knocking loudly. I thought to myself again, "Who on earth could this be? Nobody ever rings my bell or comes to see me." I loosened the rope from my neck and started for the front door, all the while the bell rang louder and louder.

When I opened the door and looked I could hardly believe my eyes, for there on my front porch was the most radiant and angelic little boy I had ever seen in my life. His SMILE, oh, I could never describe it to you! The words that came from his mouth caused my heart that had long been dead, TO LEAP TO
LIFE as he exclaimed with a cherub-like voice, “Ma'am, I just came to tell you that JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU."  Then he gave me this Gospel Tract that I now hold in my hand.

As the little angel disappeared back out into the cold and rain, I closed my door and read slowly every word of this Gospel Tract. Then I went up to my attic to get my rope and chair.  I wouldn't be needing them any more.
You see --- I am now a Happy Child of the KING. Since the address of your church was on the back of this Gospel Tract, I have come here to personally say THANK YOU to God's little angel who came just in the nick of time and by so doing, spared my soul from an eternity in hell."

There was not a dry eye in the church. And as shouts of praise and honor to THE KING resounded off the very rafters of the building, Pastor Dad descended from the pulpit to the front pew where the little angel was seated.

He took his son in his arms and sobbed uncontrollably. Probably no church has had a more glorious moment, and probably this universe has never seen a Papa that was more filled with love & honor for his son... EXCEPT FOR
ONE. Our Father also allowed His Son to go out into a cold and dark world.  He received His Son back with joy unspeakable, and as all of heaven shouted praises and honor to The King, the Father sat His beloved Son on a throne far above all principality and power and every name that is named.

Blessed are your eyes for reading this message. Don't let this message die, read it again and pass it to others. Heaven is for His people!
Remember, God's Message CAN Make The Difference In The Life Of Someone Close To You.

Please share this wonderful message...

Letting go

For many people, trust can be very elusive and hard to grasp.  As the story below illustrates, trust would have been the subject's lifeline to holding on to dear life.  But his lack of faith and confidence became his fatal nemesis!

From my long-distance friend Lina comes this beautiful story.  Thanks, Lina!

Men 101

I just love, love, love this e-mail business.  I have never been more informed, more cheered, more curious than the time I started getting informative, thought-provoking, even entertaining pieces from my cyber contacts.

This one came from my long time (and long lost) friend Lina.  If I never had a handle on the the male of the species before, this information has certainly put some puzzle pieces into place.  Thanks, Lina!

WHY MEN ARE SELDOM DEPRESSED

Men Are Just Happier People --
What do you expect from such simple creatures?
Your last name stays put.
The garage is all yours.
Wedding plans take care of themselves.
Chocolate is just another snack.
You can be President.
You can never be pregnant.
You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park.
You can wear NO shirt to a water park.
Car mechanics tell you the truth.
The world is your urinal.
You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky.
You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt.
Same work, more pay.
Wrinkles add character.
Wedding dress $5000. Tux rental-$100.
People never stare at your chest when you're talking to them.
New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet.
One mood all the  time.
Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat.
You know stuff about tanks.

A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase.
You can open all your own jars.
You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness.
If someone forgets to invite you, He or she can still be your friend.
Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack.
Three pairs of shoes are more than enough..
You almost never have strap problems in public.
You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes..
Everything on your face stays its original color..
The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades.
You only have to shave your face and neck.
You can play with toys all your life.
One wallet and one pair of shoes -- one color for all seasons.
You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look..
You can 'do' your nails with a pocket knife.
You have freedom of choice concerning growing a moustache.
You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes.
No wonder men are happier.

SO, send this to the women who have a sense of humor and who can handle it .... and to the men who will enjoy reading it..
