Prayers for peace

One of my charities sent me a valuable holiday present:  a Daily Companion rich in prayers. 

I would like to share a few of the prayers contained...

Prayer for Peace of Mind

     Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You knowing that You love me, care for me, and will never abandon me.

     I want to be like Mary, who, in spite of her sorrows and great pain, was able to enjoy peace of mind in the midst of her suffering, confident that God was at her side to give her courage.

     Help me to know that my suffering and pain too will pass, as You guide me along the right path and that only goodness and kindness will follow me all the days of my life.

     Jesus, heal my heart and grant me peace of mind.  Amen.

Serenity Prayer

     God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the Courage to change the things I can; and the Wisdom to know the difference.

Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
     where there is hatred, let me sow love;
     where there is injury, pardon;
     where there is doubt, faith;
     where there is despair, hope;
     where there is darkness, light;
     and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
     grant that I may not so much seek
     to be consoled as to console;
     to be understood as to understand;
     to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
     it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
     and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
